Prior to 1979 all Harley-Davidson models used points type ignition, the Comp Master advance unit was created to not only upgrade a points style ignition, but to enhance the early electronic ignitions. Due to the inherent problems with Harley's electronic ignition introduced in late 1979 many people switched back to points ignition because of the simplicity and reliability. Fits all Harley models up to the introduction of Twin Cam models.
High performance Comp Master advance assembly kits are made from a high grade stainless steel to prevent rust. The weights are then saturated with a specially formulated polymer coating that protects from heat saturation, reduces friction, strengthens the component, and makes it more efficient. Includes center bolt.
- Shaft and plate are stainless steel machined to exact tolerances
- Weights are heat treated and coated with high-tech polymers to ensure smooth even advance and retract movement
- Included springs are high quality phosphate coated spring wire that allows full advance @ 1400 RPM (same as OE)
- Hardened washers on advance weight pivots to prevent premature spring wear
- Pre-lubricated
- Made in the USA.
Note: There are no returns on carburetors, electrical items, full frames, hardtails or made-to-order items (such as magnetos) unless there is a manufacturer’s defect.
